Alona Tal Biography

    Alona Tal was born on October 20, 1983 in Herzliya, Israel. She attended the Thelma Yellin School of Arts in Tel Aviv as well as the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City. After serving in the Israeli army for two years, Alona's acting career started. She started with a children's musical tape called Pim Pam Po 2, playing an evil witch named Mashefula. Shortly afterwards, she appeared in a commercial for laundry detergent, learning that her clothing can be both clean and white. Her first big role was the role of Lilach in Lihiyot Kochav (English title: Being A Star). Alona was offered roles on two different television shows during the filming of Lihiyot Kochav and she took both of them. The first one was about a family in the hotel business, a soap opera called Zimmerim (Guest Rooms). The second, Ha-Pijamot (The Pijamas/Pajamas/Pyjamas), ran for four seasons, with Alona in only the first three. It was a sitcom about a struggling band, determined to make it in the real world. The second show allowed Alona to show off her amazing musical talent and also gave her the opportunity of recording a song with Israeli rapper Subliminal.

    Taking a break from her hectic life, Alona decided to move to New York where her sister lived. She met singer Wyclef Jean there and recorded a song with him. He even referred to himself as her mentor. He was seeking to help her with her true passion, which is music. After New York, Alona traveled to Los Angeles, California to star in Veronica Mars. She had gotten the title role but was bumped by Rob Thomas for Kristen Bell. Fortunately, Rob Thomas decided to keep her since he liked her so much and created the role of Meg Manning for her. This role lasted for a total of 10 episodes, the last being on April 12, 2006. Alona has also guest starred on 7th Heaven, CSI, Cold Case and Commander In Chief.

    In early-to-mid 2006, she was cast on the CW show Split Decision as Bex Christensen, a skater-type character. Unfortunately, the show was not picked up and only the pilot was filmed. In August 2006, she auditioned for a role on Supernatural and was accepted. The role was of Alex, a possible love interest for Dean Winchester but after fan reaction, the character was re-named Jo. The first episode of Supernatural with Jo premiered on October 5th, 2006 and was last shown on February 8th, 2007. Currently, the fate of Jo is unknown as producers thought Alona looked more like the Winchester brothers' younger sister and have not needed her for any further storylines. In late 2006, Alona filmed one movie called "Half Past Dead 2: Justified" and was cast as Devon in a teen movie, "Taking 5". "Half Past Dead 2: Justified" was released on released on DVD in mid-May and "Taking 5" first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28th, 2007. There were only four showings and the movie is currently waiting to be picked up to be distributed by a studio in theaters.

    In the first quarter of 2007, Alona got the role of Rebecca King on "Los Duques", which was waiting to be picked up for the CBS fall schedule. In May, CBS announced that the show had been picked up and will premiere in September 2007 during the timeslot of Tuesdays at 10:00 pm but the show was renamed "Cane". The show will premiere on September 25, 2007.

    On June 5th, 2007, Alona married with her actor fiancé Marcos Ferraez, whom she'd already been close friends with for three and a half years, at the exclusive celebrations port of SCAPA in Namal Tel Aviv.
